Planes: Storybook Deluxe

What is it and what do you do with it: interactive storybook (about 41 pages long) with game elements (flight simulation) based on the 'Planes' movie by Disney.

'Read and fly' - read the book or listen to the narration (you can also record your own narration). Tap objects/characters on the screen for extra interactions (quotes or short clips from the original movie). Some scenes are linked by short 'flying' episodes (control the plane to complete a short course).

'Race and Fly' (game mode) - choose the plane and fly it through various racing courses. Collect additional items for extra features.

'Scan and Fly' - create your own album containing favorite characters from the movie by scanning the Planes logo.

What we liked: the concept and the story. Excellent graphics and animations. Gameplay (as part of the story), game challenges and options. Interactive elements and extras. Fun factor. Professional narration, sounds and sound backgrounds. Multiple language versions. Overall quality and 'look and feel' of the app.

What we didn't like: the 'flying' feature/game play requires good eye-hand coordination to complete all required tasks (we wish there was some sort of 'flying for fun' mode for younger kids). Limited educational value.
