What it is: 6 jigsaw puzzles.

What you do with it: put the pieces together to display a short animation. Complete all puzzles to reveal the 'Gazzili fun page'. The puzzles have from 6 to 20 pieces (plus in the higher levels some puzzles must be correctly orientated before they are placed).

What we liked:simple illustrations and animations. Sounds and sound backgrounds. Ease of use. Spoken instructions. The option to display instructions on the screen (useful for hearing impaired kids). Overall quality of the app.

What we didn't like: just 6 puzzles. Navigation could be a bit more kid-friendly. The reward ('Gazzili Fun Page') is slightly disappointing.

Overall Score: 80/100

version reviewed: 7.0

reviewed:

Best for: Brain teasers, Attention & concentration, Eye-hand coordination, Interaction, Thinking & problem solving, Understanding of the world

What it is: a set of 10 puzzles (6 or 12 pieces each, depending on the difficulty level).

What you do with it: slide the puzzle pieces into place. There are 2 types of puzzles. In the first type you put together the whole scene (e.g. the African landscape scene). In the second type you are supposed to complete one object from the scene (e.g. the 'broken' solar panel of the satellite, or the polar bear's house). After a puzzle is completed a short animation will be played.

What we liked: good graphics, the 'intro' and 'puzzle completed' animations, easy operation.

What we didn't like: not all the puzzles are equally entertaining (the 'whole scene' puzzles are boring compared with the the type where you 'repair' one object). The app is surprisingly large in size (over 300MB) for what it offers.

Best for: Brain teasers, Attention & concentration, Eye-hand coordination, Interaction

What it is: sets of wooden puzzles generated randomly (unlimited combinations).

What you do with it: slide the shapes in place by dragging them with your finger.

The good: nice illustrations and sound effects, ease of use (even for younger children).

The not so good: can get boring very quickly (the shapes are laid out randomly). Activating 'bonus features' requires connecting to Facebook (link easily accessible to a child).

Best for: Brain teasers, Attention & concentration, Eye-hand coordination, Interaction, Thinking & problem solving, Understanding of the world

What it is: a 'wooden' puzzle game with a dinosaurs theme.

What you do with it: Slide pieces in place to complete the puzzles (from 4 to more than 10 pieces each). 36 puzzles, 3 levels of difficulty.

What we liked: the concept, easy operation, overal 'feel' of the game.

What we didn't like: background sounds can't be turned off, addition of the letters in the 2nd and 3rd star levels does not make very much sense. Full set of 36 puzzles only available as in-app purchase, link for 'more apps' easily accessible on the main screen.

The 'free' wersion has only 3 puzzles and the in-app purchase option is too easily accessible to your child!"
