Toca Store

What it is: a simple virtual store (can be played by 1 or 2 players).

What you do with it: select 5 the articles for your store, then sell them to your customer (set your price, ask the customer to count the money and pack the goods).

What we liked: the concept. Simple illustrations and animations. Sounds and sound backgrounds. Ease of use (no instructions needed). Great for role play and negotiation/cooperation/resource management skills (but please read the note below). Overall quality of the app.

What we didn't like: could have much higher educational value (names of products, planning/shopping lists, counting real money, categorization etc). Could offer more features and more variety.

A note about the 'Parental Assistance' requirement: Toca Store got our Editor's Favorite badge as a 'good educational tool'. Used as such, it requires some involvement of the parent (creating the role-play situations etc.). If used by a child alone or with another child the educational value of the app would be much lower (think of it as a simple interactive play app).
