What it is and what you do with it: an interactive adaptation of the classic tale with extra activities. About 11 interactive scenes.

Listen to the narration, tap the characters for interactions and dialogues.

What we liked: the concept/the story. Illustrations and animations. Many interactive elements complementing the storyline. Lots of extras (e.g. different endings for the story, use the device's camera to fix the broken mirror, finding the owl hiding in various places etc). Narration, dialogues, sounds and sound backgrounds. Ease of use. No distracting elements. Overall quality of the app.

What we didn't like: we wish there was more control over the dialogues (they get a bit random at times).

Best for: Interactive books, Attention & concentration, Creativity, Early literacy, Eye-hand coordination, Music & art

What it is/what you do with it: interactive book based on the popular nursery rhyme plus extra activities: counting practice, sorting activity (by color, size, shape, set) and simple 'button' designs.

What we liked: the story. Beautiful artwork. Good variety of fun activities related to the original rhyme. Ease of use (but please see the note below). No distracting elements.

What we didn't like: navigation could be more intuitive. The sorting activity may be too challenging for younger kids. The app could be more responsive.

iPhone + iPad

Overall Score: 65/100

version reviewed: 1.3.1

reviewed:

Best for: Interactive books, Attention & concentration, Early literacy, Language, Personal & social

What it is and what you do with it: a set of 55 Dr Seuss books, including Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs or If I Ran The Circus and more.

Tap on the cover to download the chosen book (subscribers have access to all books from the package).

Each book has three reading modes: listen to the narrated story with the words highlighted, read as a 'traditional' book and auto play (automatic reading and turning the pages). Tap on the pictures to hear the associated words read out.

What we liked: the concept (a subscription based access to the full library). Dr Seuss stories. Original artwork. Sounds and sound backgrounds. Good navigation and reading options (easy access to single pages, words are highlighted when read by the narrator etc.). Professional narration (plus the option to record and share your own narration). The progress reporting feature (though we wish there were more options).

What we didn't like: the pages are very static (apart from zoom in/zoom out type animations).

Note about our ratings: please note that our ratings are based on the 'full access' version of the app.
