What it is and what you do with it: 4 interactive versions of Sandra Boynton's books: 'The Going to Bed Book', 'Moo, Baa, La, La, La!', 'Blue Hat, Green Hat', 'Barnyard Dance'.

Listen to the narration or read the book yourself. Tap, pull, drag characters/objects on the screen for sounds and animations.

What we liked: the stories. Original illustrations. Simple interactions complementing the storyline. Good reading options (words are highlighted when read by the narrator, you can tap single words to have them read out). Humor and fun factor. Superb narration. Sounds and sound backgrounds. Ease of use.

What we didn't like: a bit pricey.

What it is and what you do with it: 26 interactive scenes with activities teaching letters and spelling.

e.g. feed candy to a hippo to play with the letter 'c', find hidden 'h's' under hats, build a robot to unlock the 'r' etc.

What we liked: the concept. A good variety of engaging activities. Great illustrations. Sounds and sound backgrounds. Humor and fun factor. Ease of use. Professional narration/spoken instructions. Good set options (lowercase/uppercase, phonics/letter sounds). Overall quality of the app.

What it is and what you do with it: an interactive adaptation of the classic tale with extra activities. About 11 interactive scenes.

Listen to the narration, tap the characters for interactions and dialogues.

What we liked: the concept/the story. Illustrations and animations. Many interactive elements complementing the storyline. Lots of extras (e.g. different endings for the story, use the device's camera to fix the broken mirror, finding the owl hiding in various places etc). Narration, dialogues, sounds and sound backgrounds. Ease of use. No distracting elements. Overall quality of the app.

What we didn't like: we wish there was more control over the dialogues (they get a bit random at times).

What is it and what do you do with it: an interactive book (about 28 pages long) with 24 odd characters (You-Things). 2 reading modes (with or without narration). Read the book (or have it read to you) and tap the characters for simple sounds and animations.

You can customize your own avatar (You-Thing) which will be used as one of the characters in the story.

What we liked: the concept. The story and the message. Funny illustrations and interactions. Sounds and sound backgrounds. Ease of use. The option to include your own character as a part of the story. No distracting elements.

What we didn't like: some of the You-Things are a bit odd (prepare for some tough questions from your child...).
